Milano is the latest woman to step forward to take the helm as the daughter of President Donald Trump and the wife of Vice President Mike Pence.
The 44-year-old former reality TV star, who has appeared on multiple TV shows and has had her own reality show on MTV, announced her intention to run for president on Thursday.
The former “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” star and mother of two, who was born in Miami, told the Washington Post that she would “take on the mantle of president” and “have an incredible opportunity to serve the country.”
She added: “This is the only way I know how to get things done.”
In an Instagram post, Milano, who lives in New York City, wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce I will be running for president of the United States.
I am honored to be the first person to join the Trump administration.
This is a great opportunity to give back to our country and help make our country stronger.”
Milano previously served as the deputy chief of staff to President Donald J. Trump and is now the vice chair of the Republican National Committee.
Trump is the son of casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and was a reality television star before entering politics.
He has had a rocky relationship with Milano since the pair first met in 2016.
During a 2017 interview with CBS, Milan said she was worried about Trump’s temperament.
She added that she felt like “his temper was getting out of control” and that she feared he would make her a target.
In a 2017 video interview, Milani said she thought Trump was “really unhinged” and she would never vote for him because of his temperament.
